PM Ujjwala Yojana has transformed cooking in rural India by providing free LPG connections to 10 crore+ women from BPL households. It replaced kerosene, wood, and cow dung as cooking fuel, dramatically reducing indoor air pollution which was a major health hazard — especially for women and children. The scheme provides free connection, regulator, and first refill.

Eligibility Criteria

Woman aged 18 or above from BPL family

Can I get Ujjwala connection if I am not in SECC list? ▾

Yes, Ujjwala 2.0 expanded eligibility to migrants and those not in SECC. Show Aadhaar for residence and self-certify no LPG connection at household.

After getting free connection, are refills also free? ▾

Only the first refill is free. Subsequent refills are at market price, but you receive LPG subsidy credited to your bank account under the PAHAL/DBT scheme.
